The Ten Commandments are being from removed from courthouses. But they will still have the following "commandments":
The Ten Statutory Commands ( and citations)
First:
We appeal to. . . the Supreme judge of the world ( Declaration of Independence)
Second:
"You shall not make for yourself a graven image, . ." specifically of a dollar bill (18 U.S.C.A. § 471, et seq)
Third:
"Congress shall pass no law respecting the establishment of a religion or preventing the free exercise thereof (Constitution of the United States, Article 1)
Fourth:
On the Sabbath day, State Courts are closed (Court Schedule, Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court)
Fifth:
"Honor your father and your mother. . ." because they can disinherit you (ILCS 755/5(1))
Sixth:
"You shall not murder." (720 ILCS 5/9-1)
Seventh:
"You shall not commit adultery." (720 ILCS 5/11-7)
Eighth:
You shall not steal (720 ILCS 5/16-1)
Ninth:
You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. (720 ILCS 5/32-2)
Tenth:
You shall not covet your neighbor's wife (and alienate her affections.) (740 ILCS 5/0.01 et seq)
